Dr. Augustine Ikpehai PhD

Summary

Dr Augustine Ikpehai received PhD in Smart Grid communication from the Manchester Metropolitan University and MSc in Communication Engineering from Lancaster University, both in UK.

He joined Sheffield Hallam University in January 2019 as a lecturer in the Department of Engineering & Mathematics. Augustine has over 10 years’ combined experience in industry and Research with core expertise in Smart Grid, IoT and Intelligent Infrastructure.


About

Before joining Sheffield Hallam, Augustine was as a post-doctoral researcher in Electrical & Electronic Engineering Division, Manchester Metropolitan University. During his PhD and Post-Doc, Augustine was involved in many research projects such as Innovate UK "City Verve" IoT for Smart City project in which he was the task lead for IoT access technologies.

The other projects are: H2020 “Triangulum” Smart Cities project, TSB/EPSRC “Smart In-building Micro-grid for Energy Management" and the UK-South Korean EPSRC "Peer to Peer (P2P) Energy Trading/Sharing".

Augustine publishes widely in leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His current research interests include in the areas of smart grid technologies and IoT systems include EV charging network planning and scheduling, intelligent systems for critical infrastructure, smart wireless power transfer, transactive energy systems and cyber security in critical infrastructure.

Augustine has served as member of organising committee and Technical Program Committee in many IEEE conferences as well as referee in many renowned journals. He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy. Prior his PhD, Augustine worked as a Communication Network Engineer at Zenith Bank Plc, Nigeria where he obtained industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE (written), JNCIA and JNCIS.
