Dr Bryony Cotterell, Dr Tim Nichol and Prof Tom Smith attended this year’s BioFIT conference which took place in Lille, France, on 4 and 5 December. This was a networking and partnering opportunity to promote work in the BMRC to develop antimicrobial-release coatings for medical devices.

Lectures focused on the profits and pitfalls of academic-industry collaborations and allowed us to gain a better understanding of how researchers and technology transfer officers from the University can effectively present our work to industry. We held meetings with potential collaborators on developing our sol-gel coating for different drug delivery problems and other academic/SME working on similar projects within the European market.
