Email BMRCInnovenn Ltd and Sheffield Hallam University are part of an NC3Rs Crackit Challenge consortium to investigate drug metabolism skin.
The Stage 1 project, worth £99,970, was awarded to a consortium comprising InnovenLtd, Phenotox Ltd, University of Manchester and Sheffield Hallam University.
The Hallam team from the Centre for Mass Spectrometry Imaging (CMSI), situated within the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC), consists of Professor Malcolm Clench and Dr Jillian Newton. The team will work on Innovenn’s LabSkin 3D living skin equivalent tissue model to examine the abundance and distribution of drug metabolising enzymes in it for comparison with those present in human skin.
This is Stage 1 proof of concept funding with the team looking to generate data to support a bid for an £800k follow-on award.
