John Goddard

Visiting Professor


John Goddard OBE is Emeritus Professor at Newcastle University UK where he founded and led the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) from 1977 – 1998. He was subsequently appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor with responsibility for city and regional engagement until his retirement in 2008. He now also holds the part-time position of Professor of Universities and Cities at the University of Birmingham, UK and is also Visiting Professor at Sheffield Hallam University. In 2012 John received the Times Higher Education Lord Dearing Lifetime Achievement award and in 2015 was elected a Fellow of the Academia Europaea.
