Information on why you cannot access the Placement Bursary form.
I get a “You do not have permission…” message when I click on the link to apply
You will only be able to access the Placement Bursary application form if we believe you are eligible to apply.
What are the reasons why I might not be eligible?
There are several reasons why you may not be eligible for the bursary and, therefore, why you are able to access the form at the moment:
- You were not means tested by your student funding body (eg Student Finance England) in the previous academic year – This is the most common reason why students are not able to apply. We may be able to accept your parents’ P60s for the tax year ending 5 April 2025 instead. Please email these documents to Hallam Help for us to consider. Please note, your household income has to be below £62,377.
- Your household income is £62,377 or more – If you believe that your household income was not assessed correctly, there has been a change in your circumstances or change in your household income, please contact Student Finance England or your student funding body to let them know.
- Your placement has not yet been approved – To get your placement approved, visit Get your placement approved | Sheffield Hallam University (shu.ac.uk) We check for placement approvals in August, September, and October. If you have not been invited to apply by Sunday 26 October, please get in touch with Hallam Help.
- You are on a health or education course that has embedded placements – The Placement Bursary is only available to students who have a placement year as part of a sandwich course.
- You have already received a Placement Bursary – The Placement Bursary is only payable once.
- You are studying a postgraduate course – The Placement Bursary is only available to students on undergraduate courses.
- You are an international student – The Placement Bursary is only available to students with a home fee status.
If you think you are eligible for this bursary, but do not receive an email from us by Sunday 26 October, please get in touch with Hallam Help
