What you could get
The Care Leaver Package includes up to £2,000 from the Student Success Scholarship, plus a bursary of up to £1,500
Funds from the package will be pro-rata for part-time students.
Who can apply
To receive the Care Leavers Package you must
- be an undergraduate student with UK or home fee status
- have fees set at £9,250, or pro-rata part-time equivalent
- have spent three or more months in care during school years including and after year ten
- be 25 or under at the time of enrolment
- be eligible for the Student Success Scholarship
How to apply
Apply for the Student Success Scholarship by going to the 'Scholarships' tab on My Student Record. Your first payment of £2,000 will be made through the normal Student Success Scholarship process. We will contact you directly to arrange the second payment of £1,500 at a later date, normally this will be in the second semester.

As a care leaver, you may also be eligible to join SHU Progress; a scheme that provides additional support throughout your application process, from the year you choose to apply to university through to becoming a university student.
