Overview
The Placement Bursary is available to help students financially during a placement year.
What you could receive
Eligible students will be awarded a one-off payment of £800.
Who can apply
You will be invited to apply for the Placement Bursary if you:
- are a UK or 'home' fee status student,
- are paying the University's placement year fee (or are in receipt of a tuition fee loan to cover this amount),
- were means-tested by Student Finance England (or similar) in 2022/23 with a household income of £62,343 or below,
- are enrolled on a placement year in 2023/24, and
- are undertaking a placement that has been approved by the university.

When to apply
If our records indicate that you are eligible for the Placement Bursary, we will ask you to complete a claim form and provide your bank details.
For students whose placements have been approved by the university by Friday 11 August 2023, the claim form link will be sent to their Sheffield Hallam student email account by the end of August. For students whose placements are approved after the Friday 11 August, the claim form link will be sent by the middle of October.
