💉 Vaccinations for Placement

Once you’re medically cleared, you’ll be invited to a vaccination appointment to receive the required immunisations for your placement. 

Most courses will need to attend 2 medical appointments prior to placement in order to ensure they have the minimum level of clearance for clinical activity. The vaccines you will need are listed here.

If you are studying Paramedic Science, Midwifery, Operating Department Practice: You will need to complete the full 20 week course of vaccinations before you are able to commence any clinical placement activity. Any missed appointments, even those that are rescheduled, will impact completion of this so we recommend that you prioritise attendance.


📋 Why Vaccines Are Needed

All professional health students must follow Department of Health (DoH) guidelines.
Vaccines are required to:

  • ✅ Protect you and service users
  • ✅ Meet placement provider requirements
  • ✅ Ensure you’re eligible to attend placement

🏥 Where & When

Vaccinations are provided by our Occupational Health provider at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Appointments take place on-site at Claremont Place.

📅 You must meet the required vaccine levels at least 6 weeks before your placement starts.


Immunisation Deadline

You must have full immunisation clearance by the end of your first year.
⚠️ Failure to do so may delay re-enrolment and progression.
