Earlier this month Elsevier and Stanford University released the latest iteration of the prestigious list, which identifies the world's leading researchers, representing approximately two per cent of all scientists worldwide.
The recently released data looks at academics who are most frequently referenced in the work of other scholars across the last year as well as throughout their career history. It ranks the top 100,000 names from the more than 8 million scientists considered to be active worldwide, taking into account 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.
There are 28 current and former researchers at Sheffield Hallam University who feature on the list across a broad range of subject areas. Some researchers are cited on the single-year list for 2024 with others acknowledged on the career-long list, with several researchers achieving recognition on both lists.
Academics featured on both lists have researched areas including maternal and infant health; artificial intelligence and robotics; literacy and education.
Professor Sarah Pearson, Dean of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at Sheffield Hallam University, said: “My congratulations to colleagues who feature on this list reflecting global impact, leadership, and advancing research within their respective fields. Their work contributes to the University's standing as a leading applied university, and our dedication to delivering impact that supports healthier lives, stronger communities, and future economies.”
The researchers who feature on both lists are Hora Soltani, Keith Davids, Luca Susmel, Antonio Feteira, Kim Rainsford, Andy Alderson, Lixin Cheng, Sara Mills, Cathy Burnett, Quanshun Luo, Gavin Reynolds, Alessandro Di Nuovo, Peter Ashworth, William Geary, Arutiun Ehiasarian and Ian Rotherham.
