My teaching interests are focused around children’s development, particularly cognitive development, and developmental research methods. I also teach Forensic psychology, focusing particularly on witness evidence and children’s engagement with the law and law services.

I qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and in terms of practice experience I have worked in both private practice and also as an in-house legal adviser in local government. For instance, as part of Manchester City Council's Legal Department I advised the Council on the contracts needed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Chalen Westaby
Chalen received my PhD in Public International Law from the University of Derby and has been teaching at Sheffield Hallam University since 2008. Her PhD focused on the area of international legal history and looked at the development of the customary international law right of self-determination after the Second World War.
