Dr Seonyoung Kim
I studied Tourism Management at undergraduate level and worked for a major tour operator in South Korea before I came to the UK. I completed both an MSc in Sustainable Tourism and a PhD titled 'Tourism-related urban regeneration in two UK city regions' at Sheffield Business School (SBS), Sheffield Hallam University. I started to teach tourism for SBS in 2008 as an Associate Lecturer and joined the SBS Tourism Team as a full time lecturer in 2012. I am the Subject Group Leader for Tourism. My teaching and research interests lie with tourism and urban regeneration, the visitor economy, tourism policy and planning, and accessible tourism.

I bring to my teaching my interest in dramatic action and the spatio-temporal elements of texts. This approach often helps students unpick ideas around genre, narrative perspective and voice.

I am passionate about teaching public health nursing. I have remained in practice as a school nurse and sexual health practitioner whilst teaching at the university. I am interested in teenage health and how to improve it. I have developed my knowledge and skills in psychological approaches to behaviour change. I am proficient in Motivational Interviewing and am a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
