As a visa student, if you are booking annual leave with your employer for more than three days that you would normally be working, you must complete an authorised absence form. Please contact Hallam Help for this.
You would not be required to complete the Authorised Absence process for UK public holidays. We do, however, understand that if you decide to travel abroad during a public holiday you may still wish to obtain further reassurance from SHU in preparation for immigration checks upon entering the UK and can speak with Student Immigration Compliance colleagues before booking.
You may also be off for health reasons, you need to complete an authorised absence request if you are ill for more than five days.
If there is a medical emergency then the expectation is that you would seek the immediate healthcare support needed in the UK and provide a Doctor's note for the sick leave required. If you are choosing and able to return to your home country for health care reasons and therefore taking this as annual leave, then you should follow the annual leave Authorised Absence guidance which is a maximum 30 days with your employer's approval.
