Thajanee is a Database Engineer at global information and insights company TransUnion. She is studying MSc Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist (Software Engineering).

'I definitely encourage other people to take on this challenge.'

'When I completed my degree, I hadn’t anticipated returning to academia, but when I saw that TransUnion’s graduate programme offered a Master’s degree related to software as part of the Database Engineer role, it really encouraged me to apply. I took up the position in 2019 and began my training soon after.

'I’ve particularly enjoyed the technical modules because I come from a different academic background, with an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering. This course has given me more knowledge in both the technical work and management.

'The first module was Designing and Developing Software Programmes, giving an insight into programming and more hands-on technical skills which I really enjoyed. I also had the chance to collaborate with people from different companies in the group assignment and the course has helped me build a number of wider skills, alongside the technical know-how.

'I definitely encourage other people to take on this challenge given the opportunity. It’s rewarding when you progress through it and helps build confidence. I am grateful for be working in a highly supportive company like TransUnion that is really committed to providing learning and development, giving me the chance to enhance my skills and to do well in my Master’s degree.'
