Activities and support over the break

The University will be closed from 9pm, Thursday 28 March and will reopen Wednesday 3 April, 8am.

We know that many of our students may stay in Sheffield over Easter. Please be assured we still have a range of services and support available for students both in halls and at home during this time.

Urgent help

If you require urgent help there are security staff available 24/7. To contact them please call ext. 2000 on internal phones or 0114 225 2000 if calling from an external line.

Supporting your wellbeing

The Wellbeing Service will close at 5pm on Thursday 28 March and reopen 9am, Wednesday 3 April. There are lots of support and resources available to support your mental health and wellbeing.

Our Student Wellbeing Service page provides information, advice and practical support to help you manage your studies and make the most of university life.

Our online self help service Togetherall, is free for students at Hallam. You can log in with your student email address.

Library and Skills Centre 

Our two campus libraries remain open 24/7. 

The Library Skills Centre will close on Thursday 28 March and reopen on Wednesday 3 April. The last drop-in session before the Easter break will be on Wednesday 27 March. Library Chat will continue to be available as part of the library online.

Studiosity, a free online writing feedback and live chat service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and is open to all students.

Careers and employability

Our Careers Connect building will close at 5pm on Thursday 28 March and reopen on Wednesday 3 April, 11am. You can access our Careers and Employability website anytime for digital support with applications and other careers related queries. 

Student-led social activities 

The International Experience Team are running a programme of events and activities over the break, from local trips to arts and crafts and fun team sports. These are open to all students, so come and join in if you are in Sheffield over the Easter break. See what’s going on.

The Multifaith Chaplaincy

The Multifaith Chaplaincy centre will close at 4pm on Thursday 28 March and will reopen at 8am on Wednesday 3 April. View a list of activities and places of worship for different faith communities across the city.

IT support

During the University’s closure period, if you have an urgent query you can still contact our out-of-hours service on 0114 225 3333 all day, every day.

You can also report issues, or submit requests, using our self-service portal which will be dealt with when the University reopens. You can find more information on the IT and Library services tab.

Students' Union

Hallam Students’ Union will close for the Easter period on Thursday 28 March at 5pm and reopen on Wednesday 3 April at 8am. For support over the holidays, visit their online help and support resources or contact one of their listed external support providers.

Technical Operations Resources and Services

Technical facilities will be closed from 5pm Thursday 28 March and most services will reopen on Wednesday 3 April. Please check to see if the technical space is open before arriving on site.

There will be no access to self-directed learning or equipment loans during the closure period. Please contact the relevant team before Friday 22 March if you need support during this time.
