Research at Sheffield Business School

Research that makes a difference.

Sheffield Business School is one of the largest institutions of its kind in the UK, with over 200 academic staff. We focus on diverse fields — ranging from traditional subjects like economics, finance and HR, through to specialist areas like sports, food and drink, and languages.

We were key contributors to the UK's Research Excellence Framework in 2014, where 65% of the research submitted by Sheffield Hallam was rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

Much of SBS research is based around social responsibility and sustainability. As a result of our work in this area, we’re one of the few UK universities to be included in the EMES International Research Network for social enterprise. Whether we’re exploring ‘marketing for good’ or finding new ways to implement democratic business ownership, we’re helping to build a forward-thinking economy that works for all.

We’re at the cutting edge of real-world issues in business. Our groundbreaking research in reverse logistics is helping to re-think the world of ecommerce, couriers and deliveries. This is cutting costs for businesses, reducing hassle for consumers, and lowering carbon emissions for our environment.

Whether you’re looking to collaborate with us or join us as a researcher, we’re waiting to help you make a difference in your field.
