Frequently Asked Questions

Does it matter what I am studying?

Hallam Achieve is open to eligible international students from all colleges on undergraduate or postgraduate courses. Information covered is relevant and transferable to a wide range of industries. If during the Programme, you have a query relating to how the information might relate to your specific course or industry, we will be happy to chat with you individually.

I have already attended some of these workshops in my course module or through the Central Careers Workshops Programme - Can I still attend?

Yes, although many of the learning points may be the same, so think carefully before applying. One of the benefits of ‘Achieve’ however is meeting other international students and learning from each other. The Programme also hopes to have frequent representation from employers.

Where are workshops held?

Sessions will be a mixture of zoom delivery and in-person sessions at the Careers Connect Centre in Hallam Square. You will know in advance of the programme starting where workshops and events will take place. The 4 core workshops run as part of Achieve are all as important as each other, and students will gain the most benefit from attending the full programme.

If you are really unable to attend 1 of the core workshops, your final Certificate will only note the workshops that you did attend. Please note that you must be able to attend the whole session. Arriving late or leaving early will not be permitted, unless prior approval has been given, and may result in you not being marked as having attended that workshop.

What is the cost of participating in Hallam Achieve?

Hallam Achieve is totally free and available only to eligible current SHU students.
