Students in a classroom

Build your confidence with career workshops

We know it can be hard to know where to start when thinking about applications, placements or future plans. That’s why we’ve created a programme of short, practical sessions to help you build confidence in your employability skills.

Get Started On…

Our Get Started On… resources are short, recorded sessions designed to introduce you to key areas of employability. Each recording provides practical, entry-level information to help you build your knowledge, understand the basics and feel more prepared before attending one of our live employability workshops, employer sessions or career events.

You can access recordings on:
CVs and cover letters: learn how to make a strong first impression.
LinkedIn: discover how to build a professional profile that works for you.
Interviews: understand what to expect and how to prepare with confidence.
Finding and applying to part-time jobs: explore practical tips for finding work alongside your studies or after you graduate.
Finding work in the UK & workplace culture: gain insight into UK recruitment and workplace expectations, particularly if you are an international student.

Career Focus

Our Career Focus sessions are in-person workshops. These 50-minute sessions give you the chance to explore a topic in more depth and get practical advice you can apply straight away.
Sessions across the year include:
Finding and applying to Masters courses
Finding and applying to teacher training
Making the most of your summer
Job applications and supporting statements
Preparing for careers fairs
We also run an Application Café in semester two. These are relaxed, drop-in style spaces to work on applications with support on hand.

How do I sign up?

You can find all our workshops for the month on our What’s On page. Links will be available to sign up on UniHub.
