Graduate view

'As a psychology undergraduate that initially had very little knowledge of the law, I'm so pleased I did this course. The lecturers supported me to achieve more than I ever thought I could. The course also gave me the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the SHU law firm.'

Through this experience you’ll gain practical, transferable skills and experience – such as teamwork, oral and written communication, legal writing and drafting, advocacy and commercial awareness. These will enhance your graduate skills and impress future employers.
You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in mooting and debating – representing fictitious clients in appeals before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, in our on-campus moot court.
Networking opportunities
You’ll create and develop your professional network by working under the supervision of qualified solicitors and paralegals – as well as liaising with lawyers and other professionals. Our excellent links with the local, regional and national legal profession mean you can gain valuable work experience opportunities and benefit from guest lectures from legal experts.
Competitions
Our Mooting and Debating Society members take part in internal and national competitions – where we’ve enjoyed considerable success.
