Learn about cancer cell biology and how treatments affect the growth and development of the disease, individually and in combination with each other. Enhance your knowledge of specific radiotherapy practice whilst taking a wider perspective as you look at the interdisciplinary nature of oncology.

Sarah Smith
Senior LecturerSarah is a Senior Lecturer in Radiotherapy and Oncology and Course Leader for the MSc in Radiotherapy and Oncology.
Applied learning
Applied learning is the ethos at the heart of all Sheffield Hallam courses, meaning that you are given the opportunity to put your study into practice.
You'll be taught by professionals who are active in their field - so you'll get cutting edge, industry focused knowledge of your subject. You'll gain real-world skills through placements, workshops and live projects, often getting the opportunity to work with big global brands.
Work experience is also embedded into every year of the course, so you polish your workplace skills alongside building a solid knowledge of your subject. Applied learning means that when you do start work, you can dive in and make things happen.
Future careers
If you are a therapeutic radiographer or another healthcare professional working within radiotherapy and oncology, this course offers you the opportunity to progress in your specialism. You take advantage of an increasing number of opportunities related to role development and extension, and skills mix across the various healthcare professions working in radiotherapy and oncology.

Entry requirements
All students
Academic Qualifications
Normally, applicants will hold a first degree or professional qualification recognised in the UK in a related health care subject.
Other qualifications
Equivalent, international academic and/or professional qualifications will be accepted. Other relevant evidence for example documented evidence of recent CPD activity, innovative practice, service development, research projects and/or publications. Such evidence must be clearly described in any application
Applicants are usually required to provide at least one reference evidencing their capability for postgraduate study.
Level of English language capability
International students studying with us over distance learning require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill area.
Relevant work or work-related experience
Normally, applicants should be working in a professional role in a related field of radiotherapy and oncology.
Applicants will be required to have competent IT skills and access to a reliable internet connection to enable full engagement with the course content.

Fees and funding
Home students
Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time study in 2023/24 is £9,910 for the course. For part-time study the fee will be calculated pro-rata each year based on the number of credits studied (£830 for 15 credits or £1,655 for 30 credits).
