Study abroad

Study abroad

Many of our courses offer the opportunity to study abroad at one of our partner institutions for three months or up to a year, earning credit towards your final qualification.

Studying abroad is a great way to experience living and studying in a country outside the UK, during which time you will acquire many of the skills and abilities prized by graduate employers.

If you are wanting to study abroad in 2022/23 we have extended our deadline until 22 April 2022. From 4 April you can access the Expression of Interest form through Unihub to see which partners are still available at this stage.*

We want to ensure all students on eligible courses have access to our study abroad opportunities. Information is available to help you make decisions about studying abroad and there may be extra funding available – in addition to practical and educational support – depending on your own personal circumstances.

*Language students do not need to submit an expression of interest form

Covid-19 update

Our current University policy means that for the Academic Year (2021/2022) the university will permit students to undertake the following student exchange / study abroad activities:

  • Study exchange for a semester or longer – permitted to all countries NOT on the UK Government’s ‘Red’ list on the day of travel AND where those countries are receiving travellers from the UK (or alternative country of origin)
  • Study exchange for a semester or longer – permitted for students currently residing in, or having a permanent residence in, the destination country of their study placement.

The University's student travel policy remains under review as we look ahead to student mobility activities in academic year 2022/23.
