In July 2022 students and staff from Media Arts & Communication and the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice visited Bari in Italy together with Mama Africa. Every year thousands of refugees and asylum seekers take a perilous journey across the Mediterranean searching for safety in Italy and mainland Europe. The films raise awareness about the continuing crisis and tell the stories of those seeking asylum including medical student Betty who has fled genocide in Tigray, Ana who supports women to share cuisine at her amazing Multietnico Social Bistrot and Mo from Gambia who dreams of making it big in Italian football.
