Dr Clare Dowdall of Plymouth University will give a talk on children’s digital and print-based literacies

On the 17th June 2017 we are holding the second mixed attainment mathematics conference. This is a conference for secondary school teachers of mathematics who are keen to develop ways of working with mixed-attainment groups.

In this seminar Nick Sorensen will outline how the DiTE research programme developed before addressing how notions of partnership have changed in relation to earlier notions of the two 'ideal typical' models of partnership ('collaborative' and 'complementary') that were developed in the earlier MOTE study. The research findings provide a picture of fluid and negotiated arrangements between schools and HEIs that are aimed at protecting the interests of both and which enable schools to secure an advantageous position within a complex system.

The Line Between: During the seminar, I will talk about the overall results of this research project, where we have identified both possibilities and challenges with this initiative. Furthermore I will discuss our forthcoming article connected to this research project in which we interviewed 32 first-in-family university students about their experiences of moving onto and adapting to university life.
