Development of novel digital materials for use in additive manufacturing and 3D printing
The objective of this project is to develop new and innovative digital materials, such as digital ABS, for use with additive manufacturing and 3D printing applications.
Development of thermal imaging for paediatric healthcare
The aim of this study is to work with clinicians to develop thermal imaging as a viable diagnostic and monitoring tool in paediatric healthcare.
Raman Spectroscopy of PVD Coatings
From 1999-2002, the Raman Spectroscopy of PVD Coatings project aimed to develop a Raman based method of monitoring the quality of coatings produced by the Surface Engineering Group and monitor stress and wear induced changes in hard coatings
Understanding the failure mechanisms of coatings on contaminated steel substrates
The project will determine the method by which coatings on contaminated surfaces fail through the development of protocols
Construction Materials
A summary of our research regarding construction materials
Expertise in clay-based polymer nanocomposites
We have extensive experience of incorporating clays into a range of petroleum derived polymers including polypropylene, polyamide, polyacrylates, polycaprolactone, polyvinylalcohol as well as biopolymers including starch, polylactic acid, chitosan and gelatin
Evaluating and testing the comparative thermal performance of reflective and multifoil insulations
In the absence of a standard thermal conductivity test for thermo reflective insulants, we are able to evaluate and test the comparative thermal performance of reflective and multifoil insulations
Ceramic materials and powders
We offer a full service for the analysis and characterisation of ceramic materials. Our unique combination of materials characterisation and analysis equipment, together with our team of expert and experienced staff in materials research, allows us to deliver the results you require
Volunteering
Volunteering abroad allows you to make a contribution to communities and lives in other countries, to develop skills, learn a language, and gain independence and confidence.
Susan Campbell
Susan took up the position of Senior lecturer at Sheffield Hallam in 2013, her research focusing on how the localisation of proteins within cells impacts upon their function
