I am passionate about teaching public health nursing. I have remained in practice as a school nurse and sexual health practitioner whilst teaching at the university. I am interested in teenage health and how to improve it. I have developed my knowledge and skills in psychological approaches to behaviour change. I have twenty years of experience as a criminologist and currently hold the position of Associate Head in the Institute of Law and Justice. I am an experienced lecturer who has led undergraduate and postgraduate courses in law, criminology, policing and human rights and also supervise several PhD students. My main areas of research interest are in criminal justice technologies and police reform, as well as organised and complex criminality.

I qualified as a therapeutic radiographer in 1987 and spent fourteen years working as a clinical radiographer in the NHS (primarily at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust) where I specialized in pre-treatment imaging.
