Sally Billau
Sally Billau trained as an Interior Designer at Nottingham Trent University and has proven industry experience through working for a large architectural practice on a wide range of design projects. With an understanding of spatial settings and how an environment can positively impact upon the people that use and move through these spaces, Sally has interests around the personalisation of space. Sally moved into academia in 2009 and has a continuing interest in the pedagogy of design education. She is committed to pedagogic excellence in teaching through the application of innovative learning and teaching theories and methods.

Donations help provide safe homes for care leavers
Students who come to Sheffield Hallam University from foster care often don't have a home to return to throughout summer, or a family to call on for financial and emotional support. Therefore, access to a secure and affordable home is particularly important.
Open Design
Open Design is an emerging field of study, and has resemblances to the ‘Open Source’ movement in software creation. The idea is that designers upload their designs online and freely allow others to download, alter and manufacture their products. This obviously has huge implications for design and designers.
