If you're thinking about doing a placement, our Placement Reps are here to help.
Our Reps are students who have experience of the placement journey and work with the Careers & Employability team to support other students, share their experiences and help you make the most of the careers support available at Hallam.

What is a Placement Rep?

Students who have been through the placement process themselves and can offer a student perspective on searching and applying for placements. They also work with Careers & Employability to represent the student voice, support careers activities and help make sure our placement and careers support works for students.

How can they help me?

You might meet our Employability & Placement Reps in different ways throughout the year. They can:
• Share their experiences of searching, applying and interviewing for placements.
• Give you practical tips based on what they learned during their own placement journey.
• Provide peer support through one-to-one conversations and group activities.
• Help you understand what doing a placement is really like.
• Share the things they wish they'd known when they started searching for a placement.
• Support placement workshops and activities, giving you the opportunity to hear directly from another student.
• Help at Careers Fairs and other Careers & Employability events.
• Create student-led social media content, sharing placement experiences, careers tips and opportunities.
• Run student-led activities where you can meet placement seekers, ask questions and share experiences.

Our Reps have different experiences, courses and career interests, so there isn't one 'typical' placement journey. Their role is to share their experience and help you access the right support for your own journey.

Where can I meet the Reps?

Look out for our workshops & events on UniHub from Careers Fairs to placement rep tell all’s.
You'll also see content created by our Reps across our student communications and social media, where they'll be sharing their experiences, advice and tips for navigating placements and preparing for your future career.
