Become an apprentice

You can become an apprentice whether you're straight out of school, in need of a career change, or want to advance and upskill in your current career.

Our higher and degree apprenticeships allow you to earn while you learn, giving you the chance to study at university and receive a salary.

How to become an apprentice

To become an apprentice, you must first have a job. To find an employer or for information for your current employer about you becoming an Apprentice visit UCAS Apprenticeships and Graduate Jobs  or the government apprenticeship website.

If your job application is successful, you may be invited to an interview. If you’re becoming an apprentice at your current place of work, you may not need to be interviewed.

Once you’ve successfully been offered a job, you can then search our apprenticeship courses and apply for your desired course with your employer.

What you’ll get

You do not need to pay any fees or costs to become an apprentice.

You’ll get paid and have the chance to experience a real work environment, whilst gaining confidence and skills in a subject you’re passionate about.

You’ll also get:

  • time at both university and in the workplace
  • a recognised qualification
  • holiday pay and other employee rights
  • experience working with skilled staff
  • ongoing support from industry professionals
