Part-time jobs
Getting a part-time job while studying at university can be a great way to help you top up your finances and give you more flexibility when it comes to affording things. You might even be able to start saving, which will benefit you in the longer term. As well as earning some extra cash, you’ll develop valuable skills that go beyond what you’re learning at uni.
You’ll build time management skills as you learn to juggle work, study, and your social life. Plus, it can boost your confidence and teach you how to communicate effectively with different kinds of people, which is a big advantage no matter what career path you choose. Whether you work in a field related to your studies or something different, you’ll meet new people and build relationships that can open doors later on, and you’ll probably make some new friends too.
Twice a year, we hold a Hallam Careers Fair where you can meet part-time employers and find out about jobs they have on offer during your studies. We are also proud to offer campus jobs, exclusively for Hallam students. Roles include student ambassadors (working at open days, job fairs, graduation events, and lots more), student assistants (helping with enrolment, IT support, events or catering outlets) and casual research assistants (working on research related to your course). To find out more, visit our part-time jobs page.
All in all, a part-time job can be a win-win — supporting you financially while enriching your personal and professional growth.
