Agendas, minutes, and papers from governing body, Council / Senate, academic boards and steering groups

Agendas and confirmed non-confidential minutes for meetings in the academic year starting on 1 August 2013 will be available on the Governance section of this website for

  • Board of Governors
  • Finance and Employment Committee
  • Audit Committee
  • Academic Board

The papers for these boards and committees as well as the agendas, minutes and papers for the previous two years (2011/12, 2012/13) are available from Governance and Planning Services (phone 0114 225 3361 or email foi@shu.ac.uk).

Please note that some of the minutes and papers may be confidential and will not therefore be routinely available. Access to confidential minutes and papers will be considered on a case by case basis in response to a written FOI request.

The agendas, minutes and papers of

  • Remuneration Committee
  • Nominations Committee
  • Honorary Awards Committee
  • Professoriate Committee

consist largely of personal data and are therefore not routinely available. Given the content of these minutes, it is unlikely that they would be disclosed in response to a written FOI request, but all written FOI requests will of course be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act.

Teaching and learning committee minutes

The Committee that deals with teaching and learning is referred as the Academic Quality, Standards and Enhancement Committee.

Minutes of staff / student consultation meetings

The University/Student Union Liaison Group comprises representatives from the Student Union and senior University managers. Meetings are held to share information, consult and discuss issues of mutual interest. For a copy of minutes or agendas please contact the Information Governance team by email foi@shu.ac.uk.

Appointment committees and procedures

The Terms of Reference of the Nominations Committee and the Procedures for the appointment of members of the Board of Governors and its Committees are both available from the Governance section of the website.

The minutes of the Nominations Committee consist largely of personal data and are therefore not routinely available. Given the content of these minutes, it is unlikely that they would be disclosed in response to a written FOI request, but all written FOI requests will of course be considered.
