Our aim is to bring equality and diversity to the heart of the University ensuring all potential and current staff, students and other stakeholders are treated fairly, and are not discriminated against on grounds of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race including ethnic or national origins colour or nationality, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, family circumstances, or any other irrelevant distinction.
Staff forums are run by and for staff at the University. They hold regular meetings as well as organise and participate in events to raise awareness of equality and diversity issues. Forums provide the opportunity for staff to meet, share ideas and experiences, support each other, and play a more active and influential role in the decision-making processes across the University.
The team provides support to staff forums by arranging meetings, disseminating equality related information, and assisting members in organising and participating in celebration and awareness raising events. Staff forums regularly participate in diversity events such as International Women's Day, Sheffield Pride, LGBT History Month, and Black History Month. In addition, Disabled Staff Forum members regularly attend the Facilities Directorate (FD) Disability Consultation Group meetings to ensure that disabled staff can have continuous involvement in estates projects.
If you would like more information about joining staff forums please contact the Equality and Diversity Team for more details.
Student forums are run by and for students at the University. For more information contact Sheffield Hallam Student Union.
