Supporting students at every stage on their journey to Higher Education
At Hallam, our collaborative approach spans both pre-16 and post-16 engagement, with a consistent focus on removing barriers and widening access to good outcomes, and potentially higher education. Everything we do is grounded in research, informed by data, and shaped by the voices of the students we aim to support.
Data-led and evidence-informed
Our team brings together research and experienced widening participation practitioners to build impactful engagement. Every initiative is underpinned by data and continuous evaluation, helping us measure impact and refine our approach.
We use tools like the Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT) to monitor student journeys and assess outcomes and work with partners to ensure their impact measures are imbedded. For new areas of work, we carry out literature reviews and develop theories of change to ensure our activities are purposeful, targeted, and effective.
Student-centred and co-created
We believe learners are the experts in their own lives. That’s why we actively involve target groups in shaping our work. We listen carefully to student voice and collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure our programmes reflect reality and keep up with changing needs. A key example is our Black British Pathway Programme, which was co-designed with Black British students. Their insights have been central to the programme’s development and success.
