GradVantage is our lifetime support offer to Sheffield Hallam University graduates. We are here to help you make that change from studying to entering the world of work and beyond. You can come to us at any time in your life, not just after you have finished your studies, for support such as managing a career change, considering further study or even just working out what you want to do.
Support available to you
Graduate online career tools
Our online career tool platform, Career Centre 360, contains career support resources and practical tools to help you prepare for the recruitment process and think about your next career steps; we have created a dedicated GradVantage section especially for graduates using the platform. In order to access Career Centre 360, please follow the instructions on the Alumni login page.
The Graduates First Portal allows you to practice psychometric tests, video interviews, and more. If you have graduated within the last three years, you can contact careers to allow you access to the portal. We will register you on the system and send you your login details. If you have previously registered with Graduates First as a student, you will still be able to access the portal as a graduate.
After you complete your studies, you will receive an email to confirm you have been updated to a graduate account. All you need to do is login via unihub.shu.ac.uk and click Login as ‘Graduate’; your username (your student number) will remain the same but you will have to change your password in order to confirm your new graduate account. If you experience any problems, please contact us.
Jobs, webinars and events
After following the above instructions, you can continue to access UniHub in order to search through graduate opportunities, such as graduate jobs and internships, as well as book onto events, and skills workshops to help you with your career.
Our Advisers offer one-to-one appointments to support you with reflecting on skills you have developed throughout your life and university experience to provide tailored advice, and feedback on relevant CVs or job applications. We also offer later appointments on a Wednesday between 4-7pm so you can still see an adviser around your work and home schedule.
You can practice your interview skills through booking onto our bespoke practice interview sessions, receiving detailed constructive feedback to help you improve and be the best candidate you can be for your next interview.
Working for yourself
For those wanting to venture into working for yourself, you can access our Hallam Graduate Start-ups offer from The Enterprise Team. This support includes access to funding, one-to-one appointment, online interactive webinars and mentoring support.
You may be wanting to expand your network but not sure where to start. Below are two options which can help you connect with your fellow Hallam alumni:
- LinkedIn alumni tool - search for other alumni and see what kind of industries they have gone into
- Hallam Collective - keep up with your fellow alumni, have the chance to become a mentor to our current final years, and even sign up to become a mentee yourself
What do Hallam Graduates do?
Our 'Graduate Outcomes Survey' page explains how you'll be contacted 15 months after you complete studies to check where you are at, and where to find the data afterwards.
