Artificial Intelligence encompasses the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. You learn through ‘doing’, as part of our commitment to applied learning. You'll put into practice AI concepts and technologies, using problem-based approaches, and exams will be used to assess your theoretical knowledge.

This course is delivered face-to-face over three semesters - teaching is scheduled based on the length of your course and the academic calendar.
Course leaders and tutors
I am engaged in research and teaching in the field of computer science and software engineering.
You will have the opportunity to work on real, research and industry-based projects supplied by external partners or emulated industry case studies. These will challenge you to apply what you are learning to solve real world problems.
The teaching team make use of their research and industry connections for the inclusion of real work scenarios and case studies within the teaching materials of many of the modules.
This course prepares you for a career as a:
- Developer/AI Professional, building new AI systems to solve problems in a wide range of industries.
- Data mining analyst, using artificial intelligence to provide insights into data for organisations.
- Robotics programmer, creating new services with AI technologies embedded into the robotic systems.
- Machine Learning Engineer, designing new AI systems that can take actions without being directed.
Where will I study?
You study at City Campus through a structured mix of lectures, seminars and practical sessions as well as access to digital and online resources to support your learning.

Equipment and facilities
On this course you work with
- IT laboratories equipped with high-spec computers and AI hardware accelerators.
- State-of-the-art-machine learning software and application development environments.
- Specialist facilities for research, including some of the most-advanced robotics platforms.
First degree in a relevant subject area, including (but not limited to) Computer Science, Software Engineering, Games Programming. Applicants with a first degree in another technical computing field will also be considered. First degree classification of 2:2 or above. We would also consider applicants with relevant and substantial industry experience in software engineering or software development in leu of a relevant first degree. If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or equivalent.

Fees and funding
Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time study in 2023/24 is £9,910 for the course.
