Travelling to your Placement and claiming Placement Associated (Travel and Accommodation) Expenses

Travelling to Practice Based Learning Placement

Students may need to travel to their placement. Wherever possible, placements are arranged so travel does not exceed two hours. Students should review the Placement Preparation guidance and relevant policies on safe travel, use of personal vehicles, and weather-related advice . 

Eligible NHS-funded students must submit Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE) claims online through their NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) account. The online system allows students to upload evidence, submit claims, and track progress electronically. Further information on eligibility criteria for the LSF can be found on the NHS website.

Degree apprenticeship students are not eligible to claim placement travel or accommodation expenses and should seek advice from their employer.
