We know that these circumstances can create additional barriers to studying, and our named contacts are here to help you to get the support you need and make the most of your time at university.

Our named contacts (Emily and Robin) provide practical, financial and welfare advice to care leavers/care experienced studentscarers and students estranged from family . This includes:

  • Support with settling into university life and help to resolve any issues
  • Regular newsletters by email about relevant opportunities, services and events
  • One-to-one advice about university life
  • Referrals to university services and local partner organisations

SHU Progress scheme
