Games Careers Week 2023, co-sponsored by Sheffield Hallam University, is a celebration of games careers involving nationwide events from over 120 organisations aimed at young people, parents, learners, teachers, and jobseekers.

Games Careers Week, which runs from Monday 19 June to Friday 23 June, aims to stimulate interest in and raise the profile of the games industry as an employment destination, as well as providing a focus point for those interested in developing games as a career in the future

Sheffield Hallam’s involvement this year will provide a unique platform to present the University’s gaming courses to a wide audience, from children to teenagers, and to demonstrate the excellent work current students have produced.

Dr Paul Parry, subject group lead for applied computing, said: “Sheffield Hallam University is proud to sponsor and be involved with Games Careers Week. It presents a unique, week-long opportunity to work with the nationally known Sheffield-based National Videogames Museum. Through a range of exciting events during the week, it allows the University to showcase both our courses and student work to a wide audience, raise the profile of the games industry and demonstrate the exciting employment opportunities for future gaming-related professionals.”

Sheffield Hallam University will also be present at The National Videogame Museum’s Games Careers Fair on 22 and 23 June providing advice and activities for invited schools. The fair will also be open to the public from 1pm – 4pm on both days. Tickets to the museum can be purchased via their website.

The games careers fair will include workshops, careers exhibits, Q&A sessions with industry experts as well as a chance to explore the museum which has unique exhibitions and over 100 playable video games.

At the Sheffield Hallam open day on Saturday 24 June, visitors can also discover the following games career courses; Computer Games Technologies, Computer Science for Games, Game Art, Game Design and Development, Digital Media Production and Esports Management.
