This Science Week, we're celebrating some of the most innovative, high-impact work to emerge from Sheffield Hallam's research teams.

Our standout projects range from to biochemistry to industrial design, but, like much of the best research, they have a few things in common.

First, they are collaborative and cross-disciplinary. They bring together skills and ideas from different working groups, faculties, research areas and institutions.

Second, they have the potential to transform lives. As a leading applied university, we're investing in research that addresses real-world social, economic and health challenges. Each of these projects represents a significant advance in one of the three platforms that underpin our research strategy – and in some cases, more than one.
