I am a practising artist based in Sheffield, working predominantly with sound. My practice includes sound installation, video, performance, curation, CD releases (under the name 'bocman'), and I am a founder member of Host Artists Group. I am now a senior lecturer in sound at Sheffield Hallam University.

Credits include the opera PICCARD IN SPACE composer Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) Southbank 2012, IVAN AND THE DOGS (Olivier Award nominee, and winner of the Tinniswood Award 2010), THE NIGHT WATCH (Manchester Royal Exchange 2016), THE DIARIES OF SAMUEL PEPYS (nominated Best Radio Drama 2012) GOING DARK with Sound&Fury, Young Vic 2014 and BLUEBEARD Bristol Old Vic and Soho Theatre 2014.

I have worked at Sheffield Hallam for 8 years. My research interests focus on frailty in older age and I am due to complete my PhD in June 2014 – I undertook ethnographic case studies to explore how older people with complex health problems experience frailty in later life. I have also had clinical and research experience in critical and palliative care so I am able to teach a range of subject areas across both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I am actively involved in the department and am currently a module leader, a post that I enjoy.
