This Lab4Living project relates to Design and Rehabilitation, an RSA initiative which began in 2009, to teach design to people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) as a route to independence, resourcefulness and greater control over their lives.

Lindsey is a Research Fellow at CRESR with research expertise in the broad areas of homelessness, home and housing exclusion

I am a Reader in Media and Communications, and I also teach on several media related modules

My research interests revolve around Design Anthropology, Co-design and other participatory approaches, which I am exploring in relation to projects focusing on heritage, archaeology and cultural tourism, with a feminist, post-colonial lens. My doctorate at the University of Sheffield focuses on female making practices.

I studied Industrial Design at The University of Teesside and then worked in industry as an in-house designer, a design manager and then as a director of a design consultancy. I later gained a Masters Degree in the History of Design from Middlesex University and a PhD from the University of Huddersfield. I have spoken at a number of international conferences around the world on Design History, Design Theory and Design Practice, and have written books and had articles published in a number of international design journals.
