Accommodation for returning students

Our halls are not just for first years and we welcome applications from students in all years of study.

There are plenty of perks to staying in halls and you're guaranteed a room as long as you apply before 31 March.

Benefits of choosing halls

You can apply as a friendship group

Love your flatmates? Apply together! Just remember to include each other's names in the application form.

Clear pricing makes budgeting easy

Living in halls takes the stress away from managing bills, because everything is included in your rent and you'll also get free contents insurance.

No summer rent

Unlike private tenancies that run all year, you won't have to pay rent once you finish for the summer. Plus, you can always extend your tenancy if you want.

Around the clock support and security

Lots of our halls have 24 hour support, and our residential support services are on hand to help with any issues you have.

Flexible applications

We make it easy to find and apply for accommodation. And you're under no obligation to accept a room offer, pay a deposit or sign any contracts until you're ready.

How to apply as a returning student

You can apply to stay in the halls you're in or move to a different one. We can't guarantee that you'll get the same room or type, but with 13 on offer with different prices and facilities to suit your budget, you have plenty of options to choose from.

Make sure you apply by the 31 March. We can't guarantee that single or group applications after this date will get to stay in their chosen halls. Read about how we allocate rooms.

Once you've applied, we'll check your suitability as a returning student with your current landlord/hall manager before making you an offer.

Find accommodation

Our 13 halls of residence are affordable and within 30 minutes walking distance of campus. Whatever you have in mind, we have accommodation to suit your needs.

Changes on campus

We're currently relocating some of our departments, schools and teaching spaces. So we recommend to double check your study location before deciding on your accommodation.

You can find out more about these changes on our relocation information page.

Find private sector accommodation

If you don't want to stay in halls, there is a wide range of good quality student accommodation in Sheffield.

We're in partnership with Sheffield City Council under a scheme called Snug. Snug makes sure all our students have access to good-quality, safe accommodation.

You can find out more about Snug and tips on applying for private sector accommodation on our private sector accommodation page.
