Hospitality visiting fellows' event 2013

The Hospitality Team held its annual visiting fellow's dinner and meeting on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 March 2013. Both events were well attended by visiting fellows, academic staff from Sheffield Hallam and other universities, students and guests from the hospitality industry.

The central theme of the event was 'Towards hospitality 2020 creating sustainable networks'. This theme was approached from several perspectives through presentations and panel discussions focusing on human resources, revenue management as well as research currently conducted by hospitality staff.

Key speakers from industry were Jane Sunley – CEO at Learnpurple, Henrik Mansson –former executive with Moevenpick and Krishan Kadodwala from Expedia. Dr Konstantin Kostin from Saint-Petersburg State University discussed possible opportunities for doing business in Russia.

Following this were presentations of the latest books from Alisha Ali and Richard Tresidder. Michel Altan also discussed his research focusing on supply chain management in small UK food service operators.

The evening before the event, a wine tasting session and dinner for the visiting fellows was hosted by John Dunning and Professor Gareth Morgan. This was a unique opportunity to discover the subtleties of English wines.

We look forward to welcoming everybody next year when the day will include presentations of final year work and build on the success of this year.
