How you learn
We’ll prepare you for a position in industry or commerce as a technically-literate business professional. When you graduate, you’ll be able to demonstrate acumen in business management and methods of implementation.
Work Placements
You’ll have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement between your second and third years. Gaining real-world experience, you’ll develop your personal and professional skills while enhancing your career prospects when you graduate.
Previous graduates from Sheffield Business School have taken on placements at prestigious organisations, such as IBM, Microsoft, Lloyds Banking, Bentley and The NHS.
Live Projects
We work with business leaders to make sure the design of the curriculum is aligned with the needs of industry. You’ll work on a range of client-based projects – from the public services sector to private sector SMEs and large corporate organisations – applying your learning to real-world projects.
You can also work with our business programme, Venture Matrix, winner of the National Enterprise Educators Award.

Course Topics
You’ll study the foundations of business management, including business models from a broad variety of sectors. You’ll learn how to manage and respond to contemporary challenges – from the economic to the ethical – at local, national and global levels. You’ll graduate with skills in a wide range of business management activities, a hugely valuable specialism in law, and the real-world experience to develop your career.
As the course progresses, you’ll learn how to integrate the principles of business management and law – from HR management to property and commercial law. You’ll develop your team-working skills and knowledge of how managers work to achieve organisational objectives across financial performance, business law, strategy and much more.
Not only will you explore a broad range of theories and concepts, you’ll apply these in real-world business contexts, experiencing the changing nature of global business first-hand. You’ll understand how organisations work, the environments they operate in and the future considerations they have to keep in mind to ensure their success.

Entry requirements
All students
UCAS points
- 112-120
This must include at least 64 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. For example:
- BBC-BBB at A Level
- DDM in BTEC Extended Diploma.
- Merit overall from a T level qualification.
- A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels and general studies
GCSE
- English language at grade C or 4
- Maths at grade C or 4

• Access - an Access to HE Diploma with at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2. At least 15 level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above, from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate.
If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or equivalent.

Fees and funding
Home students
Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2024/25 is £9,250 per year. These fees are regulated by the UK government and are therefore subject to changes in government policy. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees. International students
Our tuition fee for International/EU students starting full-time study in 2024/25 is £16,655 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
