If you are unsure whether you can receive support, please contact us. If your condition or disability has lasted or is likely to last less than 12 months, contact your faculty for support during your studies.
Support offered
We can provide practical and tailored support through a learning contract and will discuss your needs with you in your disability adviser appointment or study needs assessment.
We will work with you to understand how your disability affects your studies and how we can support you as a learner. We can provide support for lectures and seminars, assignments and exams.
Support can include:
- facilities, such as changing places and accessible toilets
- extra time for coursework and exams
- the use of a computer in your exams
- note-taking support
You could also receive additional support, such as:
- equipment, such as a digital recorder
- software, such as mind-mapping or text-to-speech software
Evidence requirements
Before we can put support in place, you will need to provide evidence of your disability in the form of a letter from your GP. The letter should include:
- your diagnosis
- the duration of the symptoms
- details, where appropriate, of any medication and any reported side affects
- the impact of the condition on your studies
If you do not already have medical evidence we recommend taking this disability evidence form (PDF, 203.8KB) to your GP. It provides evidence in a format accepted by the main funding bodies.
