Departments, schools and centres moving to new buildings on City Campus

Updated: 30 January 2024

During the academic year 2024/25, we'll be opening three brand-new buildings offering world-class teaching, learning and research facilities. This includes new homes for Sheffield Business School, and the Departments of Psychology, Sociology and Politics, Law and Criminology and the Natural and Built Environment.

These buildings have been designed with modern study in mind. They’ll feature new restaurants, cafes and social spaces, as well as flexible, digital-ready study and work areas.

Changes to planned timing

The new buildings on City Campus are due to open in the 2024/25 academic year, but there have been some delays due to the weather.

We are now planning to open the buildings in a phased approach between September 2024 and January 2025.

This means some students will still be based at Collegiate Campus in Semester One for teaching. It’s planned that you’ll move to City Campus for your teaching in Semester 2. We’ve made this decision so that your teaching doesn’t change location in the middle of a semester.

It’s important to note that we can’t guarantee there won’t be further delays. We’ll continue to keep you updated.

Departments affected by the moves are listed below.

Choosing accommodation

If you’re living in halls, most accommodation is an equal distance to both Collegiate and City Campus.
