Work with our students

Working with our students gives you the opportunity to develop your future talent and ensure that students leave Sheffield Hallam with the knowledge and skills they need to make a difference in the food and drink industry.

There are many mutually beneficial ways your organisation can work with us to support our students' education including

Student projects

By providing our students with project work, they gain real-world experience whilst you benefit from a free injection of up-to-date knowledge, professional skills and unique abilities. Projects can be for individuals or groups of students at undergraduate or postgraduate level, depending on your requirements. They can also include additional support from one of our expert academics. They typically include feasibility studies or a distinct piece of research work and last for three to six months.

Factory site visits

Factory visits help our students contextualise their studies and broaden their knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes. In addition, they can help our academic staff develop the course curriculum, raise your organisation's profile and provide an opportunity to explore potential partnerships.

Guest lectures

We plan a series of guest lectures delivered by industry professionals in the academic year. One hour sessions are timetabled and typically include a 30-minute presentation and a question and answer session. This is a fantastic career development opportunity for a staff member and increases our students' awareness of your organisation.
