Commuting to Sheffield Hallam
Both our City and Collegiate campuses are well-connected and easily accessible on foot, via public transport or by car. Whether you’re living locally or travelling from further afield, Sheffield’s transport links make it easy and cost effective to commute to campus while living at home.
Travel discounts
You can apply for a Zoom Beyond 18-21 Travel Pass or TravelMaster 18-22 Discount Card to make your travel around Sheffield and South Yorkshire even cheaper. The Zoom Beyond pass is ideal for discounted single journeys on buses and trams, while the 18-22 discount card is better for discounted multi-day/weekly passes. Walking
Sheffield is a walkable city, with both campuses only a short 25-30 minutes apart. There are plenty of green spaces throughout the city making walking a relaxing and enjoyable way to travel across the city.
Cycling
If you’re planning to include cycling as part of your commute to uni, Sheffield has a well-connected cycle route making it easy to get around the city centre by bike. The Sheaf Valley Cycle Route is a major connection to other cycle routes in the city. There are also bike racks and cycle hubs across both campuses and around the city centre (Charter Square and Sheffield station). Train
Sheffield has strong rail connections across the UK, with fast services locally around Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, as well as to major cities like Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and London.
Sheffield station is located directly next to City Campus, just a short walk across the road. Our Collegiate Campus is 10–15 minutes away by bus or around 25-30 minutes on foot. To plan your journey, go to:

Bus
Sheffield has an extensive bus network connecting the city centre, suburbs and surrounding towns. Buses run frequently between both campuses, with journeys typically taking around 10-15 minutes. You can get the number 81, 82, 83, or 88 directly to Collegiate Campus from Arundel Gate in the city centre. For more information and to plan your journey via bus, visit:

Coach
Coaches stop at Sheffield Interchange, next to our City Campus. Visit the National Express website to see timetables and book tickets.
Tram
Sheffield’s Supertram network is a fast and reliable way to travel across the city, with services running approximately every 12 minutes during the day. Trams connect key locations including:
- Sheffield station
- City centre
- Meadowhall
- Residential areas across Sheffield

Car
Both campuses are easily accessible by road, with Sheffield located close to the M1 motorway.
The closest car park to the City Campus is on Charles Street, just a three-minute walk from the main building. There are other multi-storey car parks nearby.
