Sheffield Hallam is home to the Centre for Regional, Economic and Social Research (CRESR), a leading UK applied policy research and evaluation centre. The Centre undertakes critical, theoretical and empirical research into key regional, social and economic patterns within the UK and internationally, influencing policy design.

The Centre's research and expertise is focused into five key areas:

  • Housing and place
  • Inclusive economy
  • Policy research and evaluation
  • Sustainable futures
  • Voluntary and community sector

Our public policy and community regeneration researchers have supported Sheffield’s successful Future High Street Fund bid, provided evidence to support affordable housing programmes in Rotherham, and partnered with Doncaster Council to increase participation in sport.

We will continue to work with local authorities to help develop and evaluate the policies and programmes that aim to revitalise our communities.
