Competition Terms and Conditions
1 The competition
1.1 The Priority Clearing Career Starter Pack Competition 2026 (“the Competition”) is organised and run by Sheffield Hallam University (“the University”) to encourage the submission of priority clearing applications for undergraduate courses at the University in the period between 2 July and 12 August 2026 for September 2026 start.
2 Participation
2.1 No purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.
2.2 Entry is open to undergraduate student priority clearing applicants who proceed to enrol unconditionally at the University on an undergraduate full-time course starting in September 2026 and remain enrolled and studying on the course throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
2.3 If the entrant is under the age of 18, it is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain permission from their parent/guardian to enter the competition.
2.4 Employees of the University are not eligible to enter.
3 How to enter – 2026 priority clearing applications and start dates
3.1 The entrant must apply through priority clearing in the period between 2 July and 12 August 2026 for an undergraduate course starting in September 2026.
3.2 To be eligible to claim the prize if selected as a winner, an entrant must accept the University’s offer of a priority clearing place on an undergraduate full-time course starting in September 2026, have their place on the course confirmed, enrol unconditionally on the course and start the course in September 2026.
3.3 The winner must remain enrolled and studying on the course throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
3.3 Only one entry by an entrant is allowed. Duplicate entries will be removed.
4 Winners selection and announcement
4.1 The winners of the Competition will be the first five (5) entries drawn at random by a computer process or supervised by an independent individual in September 2026.
4.2 The winners will be notified of their prize by phone and email in September 2026.
4.3 The winners must respond to accept the prize as directed in the email notification within 48 hours of receiving the notification or an alternative winner will be selected.
4.4 The winners must claim their prize by accepting the University’s offer, have their place on an undergraduate course at the University confirmed, enrol unconditionally at the University on an undergraduate full-time course that starts in September 2026, start the course in September 2026 and remain enrolled and studying on the course throughout the 2026/27 academic year. Failure to do so will result in the prize being forfeited.
4.5 The winners will be asked to consent to take part in publicity organised by the University.
4.6 If a winner defers their course entry to the 2027–28 academic year or later, they will become ineligible for the prize.
4.7 One career starter pack prize is available per person.
5 Competition timings
5.1 The duration of the 2026 priority clearing entrance will be from 2 July 2026 until 12 August 2026.
5.2 To be eligible for their prize, a winner must complete all the steps in clause 4.4 concluding with reaching the end of the first year of their studies in 2027.
5.3 To retain the prize, the winner must remain enrolled and studying on the course throughout the academic year for which the prize is awarded.
6 Prize details
6.1 The prize consists of the following, as chosen by the University at the time of the selection of winners of the Competition, up to a value of £1,500 per career starter pack:
• Laptop – Macbook Air
• £250 of the University’s campus food vouchers
• £200 in high street vouchers from Love2Shop or equivalent
• One year’s Sport Hallam gym membership
6.2 The prize shall be awarded to the winners in October 2026.
6.3 If a winner withdraws from the course at any time before the end of the 2026/27 academic year, they must return the prize, or the financial equivalent of the prize, to the University.
6.4 The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.
6.5 The prize is redeemable by the named winner only.
6.6 The promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to substitute the prize with a prize of equivalent or higher value in the event of circumstances outside of its control.
7 General
7.1 Entrants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The promoter reserves the right to refuse entry or to refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
7.2 The promoter’s decision about any aspect of the competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
7.3 The competition will be governed by English law and entrants submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
8 Promoter

9 Data protection
9.1 The promoter shall collect the following types of personal data of entrants: first name, surname, date of birth, email and mobile/telephone number.
9.2 The promoter shall process personal data exclusively and solely for the purposes of: (a) selecting the winners, (b) contacting the winners and awarding them with the prize, and (c) asking the winners to take part in publicity.
9.3 The personal data of entrants shall be deleted from the Competition-specific data list at the end of the 2026/27 academic year. The University may still retain an entrant’s personal data as an enquirer or as an enrolled student, as the case may be, and always in accordance with the University’s privacy notices.
