Adding Colours and Icons

Adding Colours and Icons

You can also add colours and icons to your mind map. This will help you navigate your mind map as it grows larger. You can also then use the legend and filters to group elements together.

Adding Colours

Firstly, select the branch you want to add colour to.

We will now need to use the Inspector menu.  The Inspector menu is a series of five icons, found towards the top right of the screen.

From left to right, these are -

image showing the research inspector button  Research Inspector - Here you will get access to any information that you have captured using the MindView Assist mobile app.  This menu will only appear when you have logged into MindView with your user account

With the branch still highlighted, click on the Format Inspector.  From here, we can change many aspects of the branch, including its shape, font style and colour.  Click on the Colour selection (note that there are two colour selections, one for the fill colour, another for the line colour)

You can now choose a colour from the colour wheel that appears.  Other options from the Colours window will let you change the opacity and apply a gradient fill, amongst other options.

Adding Icons

Click on the branch you want to add an icon to. Now, select the Document Inspector menu, then click on the Icons tab.  You can now click on the icon that you want to add to the selected branch.

Filters

A good way to manage your mind map and focus on particular areas of the project is through the use of filters.

Click on the Filter Inspector.

You can use the Filter Inspector to filter your map by branch level, icons or by creating a custom filter.

If you have applied an icon to a branch, you will see the icon under Icon Filter.  Click on an icon in the filter menu.  This will hide all branches that do not include or lead to that icon.
