Smart Computing Showcase
On March 27, 2025, the Smart Computing Showcase, part of the Festival of Computing, celebrated MSc students’ innovation. It featured 40 research posters across computing disciplines like IT Management, AI, and cybersecurity. Students presented work, networked with staff and visitors, and top posters received awards, highlighting the programmes' applied focus.
All ages, all stages – defending apprenticeships which work for Yorkshire
Degree-level apprenticeships work across many different disciplines because they are employer-led; aimed towards people at all ages and at all stages of life, based on skills gaps and demand. The principle that this kind of education should be widely available needs to be robustly defended, and the benefits that these programmes bring to Yorkshire’s economy and public services should be plainly set out.
Defining Key Outcomes in Cancer Prehabilitation
Cancer prehabilitation aims to optimise patient health before treatment begins. Currently, research into the effectiveness of prehabilitation is limited by a lack of standardised outcome measures. Various studies have evaluated prehabilitation programmes, but their results are measured differently which prevents meaningful comparison.
